What is a dataset? Part 1

The Tagged Tanakh is the showcase project of JPS Interactive.
We intend on creating a robust dataset of information around the words of Torah.

Okay, so… what does that mean in English!?!

A dataset is a collection of data organized around particular variables. Still confused?!
Well then, check out this video that actually makes Michael Jackson look cool again.

This is a user generated piece of art that has come out of the White Glove Tracking project.

W.G.T. is an amazing example of the power of crowd sourcing and how datasets can be employed in new and unusual ways.
The about page does a fine job of summarizing the project but the gallery really shows how this information can be manipulated to create fascinating results.

What you do with a dataset is limitless, creating it is the tricky part.

Stay tuned for more examples of how datasets can be employed in visualizations, games and other cool stuff.
