Bio: In Michael Chabon’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay – about two Jewish comics creators in the 1930s-50s– The Escapist is the superhero created by the title characters. A homage/parody of characters like Siegel & Shuster’s Superman and Simon & Kirby’s Captain America, The Escapist later spawned his own comic book from Dark Horse Comics, with comics written and drawn by such legends as Chabon himself, as well as Brian K. Vaughan, Kyle Baker, Howard Chaykin, and the late comics master Will Eisner.
Strength: Pretty much the same as Captain America’s. That is, heightened strength, speed, agility. But he had a magic key instead of a cool shield. AND the uncanny ability to escape any bonds.
Weakness: A fickle comic book buying public.
